Tonya Dalhaus
Bio
Tonya is an enthusiastic teacher, speaker, mediator, facilitator, manager, and coach. Her mission in life is to help people discover the best parts of themselves and to promote positive and productive communication styles.
Education
Tonya holds a B.A. in Journalism from Keene State College and an M.A. in Professional and Organizational Communications from the University of Denver.
Professional Experience
A former stand-up comedian, Tonya’s work in Boston as the program manager for a homeless shelter serving over 150 families has made her well acquainted with managing conflict and communication with a little humor. She now taps into those experiences when teaching public speaking, facilitation, and training to graduate students at the University of Denver. Tonya has studied, and is an expert at both verbal and non-verbal communication. She holds a Micro Expression Practitioner’s Certification through the Center for Body Language in Belgium, and has presented on the topic to governmental organizations.
Her passion for creating digital photography, mixed media, and social media content lead to the forming of HenHaus Media, geared at helping authors navigate social media. Both her photos and her short story Beached were recently published in the Emerald Coast Review an anthology of works.
Teaching Philosophy
Tonya enjoys helping students tap into their creativity and encouraging them to step outside the box. In her classroom you will find a judgement-free and safe space to explore different communication techniques and skills.
